Other than a popular maternity dish, this sesame oil based chicken dish recipe is incredibly satisfying to eat with rice because of it’s rich sauce. A general well blended mix of chicken sweetness with saltiness, and a slight touch of spiciness from the ginger will be sure to keep your body warm!

Sesame Oil Stir Fried Chicken


Ingredients:

1. 3 Chicken breasts and/or 3 thighs.

2. Light Soy Sauce

3. Dark soy sauce.

4. Sesame Oil.

5. Corn or Potato starch.

6. 1 thumb sized ginger. (Sliced)

1. Wash and cut up the chicken meats into chunks.

Season the meats with 2tsp sugar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp dark soy sauce, 2 tbsp sesame oil and 2tbsp corn or potato starch.

3. Mix and marinate them in a plate well and set aside for around 1 hr or more until you are ready to cook.

3. Heat up the wok and add some oil, add in a few slices of ginger and brown them.

4. Begin adding the meats. If you’re using only the chicken breast meats, then just stir fry normally. But if you are using just the thigh meats, or even both, then stir fry the thighs first as it is harder to be cooked. Do take note to keep and not wash the plate you used for marinating the chicken! We will use that later.

Tip:

Cook till the thigh meats change colour. If you have breast meats, push the thighs to a side and add in the breast meats. Ensure all the meats change colour before mixing them up.

After stir frying the meats for a few minutes, add in some water in the plate you seasoned/marinated earlier. Pour the plate water into the wok.

6. Stir and mix well and let it cook for 1/2 hr.

7. After that, start to season to taste (saltiness). It is done!

Tip: At this point, add in some corn or potato starch solution to thicken up the sauce! Mix a 1 tbs corn or potato starch with 1 tbs water solution and add it into the wok while stir frying.
