The sweet and sour sardines is a very old recipe of my family and makes use of very simple ingredients you can get from the supermarket. The extra flavours ensures you do not have any overpowering fishing scent and the sourness of the canned sardine does not overpower you. Perfect dish to eat with plain rice!

Sweet and Sour Sardines

Ingredients:

1. 1 can of Ayam Brand Sardines.

2. 2 medium sized onions.

3. Sugar

4. Light Soy Sauce

5. Vinegar


Instructions:

1. Cut the onions to around 1/2cm thickness rings. Place half of the onions into a bowl.

2. Place the sardines on top of the onion slices in the bowl.

3. Then place the remaining half of the onions on top of the sardines in the bowl.

3. Then season with 2tbs Sugar, 2tbs Vinegar, 2tbs Light Soy Sauce into the can with left over sardine tomato sauce. Stir well.

4. Then pour the mixture into the bowl with onions and sardines.

5. If you like to, place it into the steamer compartment for the rice cooker, and cook it with the rice. Otherwise, you may also microwave with cover for 1 - 1.5mins.

6. It is ready to serve!
